Dual Recording
With Canon’s Dual Recording system, choose how you record. When there’s no spare media to hand, store movies on the HDD. Alternatively shoot to SDHC memory cards: cards are great for sharing and are also an easy way to add extra capacity.
1920x1080 Full HD
The HG20 records 1920x1080 Full HD video – perfect for displaying on a Full HD TV. Five recording quality settings are available: at the highest setting HD movies are captured at 24 Mbps – the maximum possible data rate, for maximum possible image quality.
Canon HD Camera System
The Canon HD Camera System is the unique combination of a Canon HD Video Lens with 12x optical zoom, a 3.3 MP Canon Full HD CMOS sensor, and the powerful DIGIC DV II processor. All of these components are made exclusively by Canon and optimised to work perfectly together – for superb HD quality.
Instant AF
Designed for HD shooting, Instant AF is the easiest way to achieve highly accurate auto focus at speed. When focusing manually, Focus Assist tools (Magnifying and Peaking) are available.
Super Range Optical Image Stabilizer
Effective for both low and high frequency vibrations, Super Range OIS compensates for almost every kind of movement: from slow vibrations associated with breathing to the rapid shaking of a car journey.

A range of creative features is available, including 25p Cinema Mode, for a filmic look, and 11 Program AE modes.
Superior audio
Attach an external microphone via the input connection to gain greater control over sound recording. Manual audio controls – microphone attenuation control, audio level meters and audio level control – are available to help achieve perfect audio quality.
Flexible
Attach a range of accessories to the HG20’s mini Advanced Accessory Shoe. Once recording has finished, play back video on your HD TV via HDMI or component output. Since the HDMI connection has CEC support, the camcorder’s playback functions can be controlled using an external remote.
Manage, edit, share
Supplied PIXELA ImageMixer™ 3 SE software makes it easy to manage, edit and share HD movies. You can convert them to different file formats and even choose to burn a Blu-ray disc: a Dual Layer Blu-ray disc has 50GB capacity.
