The Adaptec Serial ATA RAID 21610SA Controller is a flexible 16-port native Serial ATA I/O processor-based RAID controller that combines the high-performance storage connectivity of Serial ATA with Adaptec's advanced RAID features, including Optimized Disk Utilization, Online Capacity Expansion, RAID Level Migration and Adaptec Storage Manager .
Supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and JBOD, plus disk hot plug and Adaptec advanced RAID features, the Adaptec 21610SA is an ideal cost-effective solution for applications where high levels of sustained read and write performance are required, including video streaming, web content, reference data and fixed content storage.
Adaptec Advanced RAID Features
The Adaptec 21610SA controller uniquely combines the low cost and high performance of Serial ATA with the flexibility and power of Adaptec advanced RAID capabilities to support high levels of sustained I/O performance where data protection is critical.
Optimized Disk Utilization, exclusive to Adaptec, enables the Adaptec 21610SA to utilize the full available capacity of all attached drives, even if drive sizes are different. This avoids wasted drive capacity and provides advantages over competing cards that limit capacity usage to the smallest drive in an array.
Online Capacity Expansion enables IT managers to create multiple arrays across a single set of drives connected to the Adaptec 21610SA, so that specific arrays can be optimally tuned to meet the differing needs of multiple applications.
Adaptec's RAID Level Migration feature means that data protection and system performance levels can be simply set and changed by users in order to meet the changing demands of their business.
