La Bella Tavola, Side plate Dessert plate in bone china. In 1993 “La Bella Tavola” was the first porcelain table service in Alessi's history. Now it's reissued in a new version in bone china. Sottsass said of the project: “(…) I think it's difficult to design a ‘bella tavola’ [beautiful table]: it doesn't just depend on the design of the tools that you use: it also depends on a subtle, unsure awareness with which occasionally someone, we don't know how or why, succeeds in infusing the design with an event, the total perception of our cosmic adventure, as tentative, unresolved and incomprehensible as that may be (…).”
