Brand new, genuine Apple service spare. Apple branded Panasonic (Matsushita) CW-8221 slimline, slot loading, PATA (ATA/IDE) Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) for all models of black or white MacBook 13" up until the end of 2008, & pre-unibody MacBook Pro 15". Not suitable for the newer Unibody MacBooks or MacBook Pros or the early and mid-2009 white MacBooks which require drives with a SATA interface.
Can be used in place of, and is interchangeable with, either the HL GSA-S10N or the Panasonic UJ-857. This drive reads DVDs at up to 8x speed, writes CD-R discs at up to 24x speed, writes CD-RW discs at up to 16x speed and reads CDs at up to 24x speed. The CW-8221 is a 9.5mm height drive and is slimmer than the normal slimline opticals used in the iBook and powerBook range.
