APC Symmetra RM, 208-VAC Output with 120-Volt Transformer, 6 kVA Enterprise-level rackmount power protection that keeps your system on-line all the time!

Quick Facts
- N+1 redundancy provides maximum network uptime and availability. Hot-swappable components keep your network up and running, even during service sessions.
- Easy-to-manage, menu-based diagnostics.

Further Details
- Expands as your network grows. Its 2-kVA modules reduce the cost of N+1 redundancy when you require less than 6 kVA. That means you can increase UPS runtime without a total reinvestment.
- Units available to convert 208-VAC output to 120-VAC output.
- Eliminates power-line harmonics that cause wiring to overheat.
- Takes up only 8 or 10U of rack space.

Your computer room is the focal point of your company’s communications. It’s where you store those all-important Web servers, file servers, and print servers. It’s where you handle storage and processing for enterprise networks. It’s where you maximize floor space by racking as much equipment as possible.

But all is not perfect in your computer room.

If those complex enterprise networks you’re in charge of are defended by legacy UPSs, your network is vulnerable to multiple points of failure. Because these UPSs have no redundancy and no scalability, all your planned and controlled system uptime can be wiped out with just one failure.

Sure, you’d like the power protection offered by the Symmetra™, but you need to fit it in a rack. The solution? The APC® Symmetra RM. This power array packs redundancy, availability, and ease of use into just 8 or 10U of rack space!

A whole load of sharing going on.
Symmetra’s unique power-sharing technology enables multiple power modules to share the power array’s connected load. All modules run in parallel and share the load evenly. If any module fails or is removed, the others will take over its load. How? Symmetra runs one more module than necessary to support your full load. This type of support is known as N+1 redundancy.

N+1 redundancy is used in RAID disk arrays, in processor power supplies, and in processors themselves. The Symmetra RM, however, is the industry’s first rackmount enterprise-level power protector that offers redundancy. Symmetra RM’s N+1 redundancy means your network is ensured maximum uptime and continuous availability.

Rack up and back up.
Symmetra RM provides the flexibility to adapt and increase UPS power and runtime when your enterprise network grows. To expand your power capacity, simply add more power modules in increments of 2 kVA, up to a maximum 6 kVA per Symmetra RM. If you need more runtime, just slide an additional battery module into any vacant slot inside the Symmetra RM. (To order power or battery modules, see "Related Products.")

If there's an extended power outage, Symmetra RM’s PowerChute® Network Shutdown enables you to save data and shut down multiple servers over the network. Units with up to 6 kVA are optimized for eight minutes of emergency battery backup power, so you can perform an orderly shutdown on even the largest systems.

The power of control.
With PowerView, Symmetra’s menu-based remote display, power and UPS information is at your fingertips. You can monitor parameters such as input voltage, level of redundancy, temperature, and humidity at a glance.

The power-factor correction feature eliminates power-line harmonics and neutral overloads that can cause building wiring to overheat. Symmetra RM also performs self diagnosis. If there's an internal failure, the unit alerts you via network-, SNMP-, or Web-based commands. Because of Symmetra RM’s redundancy, the system remains up, running, and protected during repairs.

Save now. Then save later.
Symmetra RM’s 2-kVA modules reduce the cost of N+1 redundancy for customers requiring less than 6 kVA. Plus the Symmetra RM lowers your cost of ownership by simplifying maintenance. Its components are modular and hot-swappable, so you can reduce service costs by servicing the unit yourself.

Looks like you have some choices to make…
All Symmetra RM units are available with 208-VAC output. Three units also feature a stepdown transformer that converts 208-VAC output into 120-VAC output. This enables you to power the data center or rack enclosure from a single high-powered circuit while providing UPS-protected 120 VAC to each piece of equipment.
