Great tasting espresso starts with brew water at exactly the right temperature. Plus or minus 1°C can make a huge difference to the taste of your espresso, that’s why the Duo-Temp™ Pro automatically cools the heating system after frothing milk, so you don’t burn the next espresso.
PID digital electronics, precisely control water temperature from the Thermocoil heating system, delivered to the ground coffee in the Porta-filter. This means your coffee will always reach its flavour potential.
The Duo-Temp™ Pro uses low pressure pre-infusion to gently infuse the coffee puck with brew water to expand the grinds, prior to the extraction at full pressure. This ensures a more even extraction, reducing the chance of drilling or channelling, translating into more balanced flavours in your cup.
The Duo-Temp™ Pro also comes with the Razor precision dose trimming tool. The Razor is unique to Breville and simplifies manual dosing by precisely controlling the amount of coffee in the filter basket. A precise dose each time will help you achieve consistently great tasting coffee every time you use your Duo-Temp™ Pro.
The very best taste will always come from using quality, freshly roasted coffee that’s ground right before you extract. Coffee is at its peak flavour potential between 5-20 days after roasting, so always buy beans with a “Roasted On” date printed on the bag. Buying beans with a “Use By” or “Best Before” date makes it impossible to know when these were roasted. Always use a quality burr grinder, and grind right before you extract, just like the very best cafes.
<b>Low Pressure Pre-infusion</b>
Low pressure pre-infusion gently delivers water pressure at between 2 to 4 bar to allow the coffee grinds to expand prior to extraction at the optimal full pressure of 9 bar. This enhances the release of the delicate oils to produce a balanced espresso. This pressure and its duration is user programmable.
<b>Thermoblock/Thermocoil</b>
With both a Thermoblock and a Thermocoil, cold water passes through a pathway within what is essentially a block of heated metal. This heating method is designed to offer a consistent temperature that is required to achieve a consistent and optimal espresso temperature. Specifically a Thermocoil houses a Stainless Steel tube (or coil) within the metal mass.
<b>Purge Function</b>
Extraction of coffee with water over 92-94°C will result in a bitter or burnt taste. Only required with Thermoblock or Thermocoil machines, the Auto Purge feature flushes the over heated water required for steaming back to the optimal espresso extraction temperature.
<b>Pulse Pre-Infusion</b>
The 15 bar pump initially pulses to expand the grinds prior to extraction. Providing a more balanced espresso shot.
