Wireless-G MIMO Performance Router w/ DD-WRT
Buffalo's Wireless-G MIMO Performance Router with DD-WRT (WHR-HP-G54DD) is an affordable and feature-rich router.
Buffalo's Wireless-G MIMO Performance Router (WHR-HP-G54DD) is the first commercial, affordable router pre-installed with DD-WRT firmware. It is fully covered by Buffalo's 2-year warranty and support, providing a wide array of functionalities to ISPs, SMBs and SOHOs.
Features:
- Hot Spot Portal allows authentication and accounting
- Multi-SSID Multiple SSIDs can be configured to separate wireless networks on a single access point, segmenting guest and administrator access
- WMM Wi-Fi Multimedia provides basic prioritisation of data packets based on four categories - voice, video, best effort and background
- The QoS function has five QoS levels; Bulk, Standard, Express, Premium, and Exempt. QoS can be used to define the network traffic prioritisation in detail by service, network, MAC address or Ethernet port
- DDNS: Dynamic Domain Name Server function resolves human-readable hostnames into IP addresses. This allows ISP to host a Web/FTP server over the web with dynamic IP addresses.
- OLSR: Optimised Link State Routing. This is a table driven and proactive protocol, which exchanges topology information with other nodes of the network regularly and so compute optimal forwarding paths locally. It is used to establish MESH networking.
- WDS with WPA: Allows Wireless Distribution System interconnection of access points with WPA (WiFi Protected Access) security
- Spanning Tree Protocol is a link management protocol that provides path redundancy while preventing undesirable loops in the network.
- VPN functionality included pass through feature for IPSec & PPTP protocol support allows point to point VPN connection
- Link Aggregation uses multiple Ethernet network cables/ports in parallel to increase the link speed beyond the limits of any one single cable or port, and to increase the redundancy for higher availability.
- Multi-SSID Multiple SSIDs can be configured to separate wireless networks on a single access point, segmenting guest and administrator access. A service set identifier (SSID) is a unique label that distinguishes one WLAN from another. Wireless devices use the SSID to establish and maintain connectivity. As part of the association process, a wireless network interface card (NIC) must have the same SSID as the access point. An SSID contains up to 32 alphanumeric characters, which are case sensitive. Traditional access points are only capable of supporting a single SSID
- Built-in DHCP Server
- Built-in 10/100 4-Port Auto-Sensing Switch
- Beacon Period: The Beacon Period is used to define and synchronise the beacon timing periods between nodes in a wireless network to determine when to transmit data. This can be adjusted for a Wi-Fi phone power save thus extending the battery time of the Wi-Fi phone for voice over Wi-Fi applications.
- DTIM - wireless VoIP in Wi-Fi networks requires modification of the DTIM (Delivery Traffic Indication Message) setting
- 802.11 Retry Limit .1x handover – required for supporting VoIP in an 802.11 network. It adjusts the retry limit for sending packets to balance link speed and quality in an 802.11 network when roaming.
- SNMP: support for network management
- Syslog: Remote network status logging for centralized monitoring of system events
- Remote web management via HTTPS
- Easy to handle backup / restore via web interface allows simple pre-configuration
- Remote command line access via SSH
- Complete Management of the router via command line (Allows efficient management when web access is not possible or connection throughput is very low)
- Wake on LAN Functionality
- Can be configured to act as an Access Point or a Client
- Restrict access to the internet at different times of the day
- Ban websites with either URL or keyword restriction
- Limit certain machines or Allow certain machines online access
- Allow detailed definition of allowed traffic by IP or MAC address
- Monitoring and traffic management: Integrated RFlow / MACupd allows centralised traffic monitoring
