Cisco LMS 2.6 Enterprise WIN/SOL 300 Device Restricted

LMS 2.6 Enterprise WIN/SOL 300 Device Restricted Cisco Systems® announces the availability of CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution (LMS) 2.6 for Windows and Solaris. Minor update kits for existing CiscoWorks LMS 2.x customers are also being released with new revised pricing. Updates will also be available for download from Cisco.com Software Center for customers with current LMS 2.5.1 software and Software Application Support (SAS) agreements. The CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 release includes significant improvements in reliability, usability, installation, and upgrading from previous LMS releases. It also includes a rollup of all previously released incremental device updates and service packs. Customers who have already upgraded to CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 are strongly encouraged to update their existing product to the CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 release. A bundle-level update will also be posted to Cisco.com for customers with Software Center access. Customers can download and apply these updates to their existing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 or 2.5.1 systems or choose to request the physical CD-ROMs that come in the minor update kit.
The CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 release is an important milestone in providing network-management tools for simplifying the configuration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of Cisco® devices in today's enterprises. It introduces a centralized system for sharing device information across all applications, improves manageability, and allows the management system to adjust to changes more dynamically. CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 also offers a new lightweight desktop interface with improved navigation through application and system setup dashboards and a new improved device selector that facilitates rapid navigation between tools that can be modified to individual workflow needs. CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 utilizes security information maintained in a Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) or solution engine appliance to simplify the management of user privileges. Cisco Secure ACS integration provides flexibility in defining user roles and supports secured user views of specific devices, groups of devices, or by geographic or logical network segments. Significant improvements in performance, such as multithreading background tasks, have reduced the time needed to deliver updates to the network and to generate reports. Efficient task processing and its shared database of managed devices allow CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 to be deployed into larger networks.
With the CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 release, there are two purchasing options for customers. The CiscoWorks LMS Large Enterprise package is designed to manage a large number of Cisco network devices and supports the deployment of individual components on separate servers. The CiscoWorks LMS Enterprise package comes with a 300-device limited license appropriate for smaller enterprises or when there is a need to deploy multiple copies of CiscoWorks LMS to branch or regional locations. Both package options feature a new user-registration process that results in a license key being sent by e-mail during installation. The complete collection of applications in CiscoWorks LMS 2.6 provides the foundation for managing the most critical component of the network, its infrastructure.
