Vigor2820 ISDN S0 Series is not only a security ADSL2/2+ router for SOHO but also makes telephoning over the Internet as convenient as you can.
Phone S0 port is dedicated for ISDN phone while the ISDN/Phone S0 port is configurable for ISDN line, or ISDN phone if required. It can support multiple SIP registrars with high flexible configuration and call handling options. The analogue fax machine or conventional analogue phone can be attached to phone port (FXS port). You can connect your regular analogue line to the Line port of Vigor2820VSn. While you enable VoIP facility, you still can access fixed line to make calls.
Furthermore, you can set rules through "Digit Map" function about particular call destinations using either your SIP/VoIP service or the PSTN line or the ISDN line. e.g. you can route local calls via your PSTN/ISDN line (if you have a free calls package) whereas international calls can go via your preferred VoIP provider; there is flexibility to have several digitmap rules. You can make economical phone calls over the Internet with VoIP, or over analog phone line or the ISDN line.
By adopting hardware-based VPN platform and hardware encryption of AES/DES/3DS, the router increases the performance of VPN greatly, and offers several protocols (such as IPSec/PPTP/L2TP) with up to 32 VPN tunnels. The object-based design used in SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall allows users to set firewall policy with ease. Object-based firewall is flexible and allows your network be safe. DoS/DDoS prevention and URL/Web content filter strengthen the security outside and control inside.
In addition to the primary ADSL interface, the Vigor2820 ISDN S0 Series let you have additional WAN port for Internet access. The additional WAN port is an Ethernet interface and you can connect it to a second ADSL modem or any other Ethernet-based Internet feed. This secondary WAN port can be used for WAN- backup or load balancing. In case of your primary ISP or ADSL line suffering temporary outage, WAN- backup offers you redundancy. As a result, the secondary Internet access will temporarily route Internet traffic. All traffic will be switched back when normal services is resumed to your primary ADSL line.
You still can use the second Ethernet WAN port as your primary/only Internet connection (through NAT function) once you do not have ADSL line or you are waiting for ADSL connection. You can use USB 3.5G access as an alternative connection for Internet backup. Before your ADSL or broadband access is available, the USB/3.5G access can be your Internet connection.
You can leave Vigor2820VSn as media-sharing server while you are away home or office! Then the hard-drive or flash-based USB storage device will act as FTP server, and the users can access it by any FTP client from LAN or WAN. If you are an editor or journalist, you can let newspapers or magazine download your reports as well as high-resolution photos while you are chasing latest news. If you are film-lover, USB hard-drive can be attached to Vigor2820 router to download file without turning on your PC. Vigor2820VSn lets you easily back up files or access saved media files!
Vigor2820VSn is Wi-Fi certified and supports WMM (Wi-Fi multimedia). It can keep the priority of voice, video and audio applications in a Wi-Fi network. The bandwith allocated for video, and when traffic conditions flucturate or change, the video traffic will maintain its allocated bandwidth, whereas the remaining bandwidth is shared by non-priority traffic. While watching video, you are less likely to see slow action. WMM lowers priority of other network traffic which is not time-critical-such as large file downloading.
