It can be used either in a wired or wireless mode. In the Bluetooth wireless mode, the speaker can be up to 30 feet from the souce (mp3 player, phone, computer or like device). In the wired mode, the cable has two connections on it. One connector is for computers and devices that have USB connection (a standard USB A male connector). The other connector is for MP3 players, phones and other devices with a 3.5 mm headphone (stereo) jack. With either connection, the device uses it Mini USB connector to receive the music.
