The IBM ThinkPad X Series is designed for extremely mobile users who spend most of their time working away from their offices. These small and light notebooks are optimized for portability and long battery life but offer the heavyweight performance of a full-size notebook. IBM ThinkPad X Series notebooks provide all-day battery life (up to 11 hours) on select models with system battery plus optional extended life battery, a full size keyboard, the Intel Pentium M processor on select models and a 12.1" XGA TFT display. The ThinkPad X40 also offers the IBM Active Protection System, IBM Powered USB 2.0 Port and a Secure Digital card slot in a 2.7 lb design featuring the smallest footprint in its class. Available on the ThinkPad X40, the integrated motion sensor continuously monitors your notebook. Like an airbag, it can detect sudden changes in motion to help protect your valuable data from some crashes which may occur in everyday notebook accidents. This IBM ThinkVantage Technology provides up to four times greater impact protection than systems without this feature. Select ThinkPad X40 notebook models feature integrated IBM 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless technology, allowing you to connect in any Wi-Fi environment. They also feature the IBM UltraConnect antenna built into the display cover for optimal signal reception. This combined design supports IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless technologies to help maximize coverage and performance. IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore is preloaded on all ThinkPad X40 models and is available for download for other X Series models. Accessed by simply pressing a button, this suite of self-recovery tools is designed to help users diagnose issues, get help, and recover their previously saved data, even if the operating system will not boot. ThinkPad notebooks are the only notebook family with the ThinkLight keyboard light. Located on the top edge of the display, this tiny LED illuminates your keyboard to let you work in low-light conditions.
