The Illumina is world’s first e-reader with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It comes with several apps pre-installed and you can even install your own apps, from your favorite reading app to social media or productivity apps.

Naturally, the ICARUS Illumina offers support for all relevant e-book formats and has many options for adjusting the layout of your books. Perfect PDF Re-Flow comes natural with all ICARUS e-readers and the Illumina is no exception. The Illumina also offers support for dictionaries (StarDict) that can be downloaded and easily installed to the device. <b>Powered by Android 4.2.2</b>
The operating system of the Illumina guarantees ease of use and access to thousands of apps. Users can easily install apps themselves via the standard file manager (APK install). Reading and e-mail apps are installed out of the box, other apps can be installed easily. You can install other reading apps (for instance Kindle or Kobo apps for reading content of your previous e-reader). Android 4.2 guarantees maximum compatibility.

<b>Fast and powerful</b>
With a Dual Core processor running at 1Ghz, fluent operation and fast page turns are guaranteed. Plenty of memory (512MB RAM) makes opening even large PDF books a breeze. And finally this surplus of processing power makes your Android apps fast and fluent.

<b>Integrated Front Light</b>
The Illumina’s front light enables you to read comfortably day and night. The light’s intensity can be adjusted easily or switched off completely if desired. With the light turned on, all positive aspects of an E-Ink screen maintain (long battery life, perfect readability indoors and outdoors, great viewing angle) but without the negative aspects of an LCD screen such as eye fatigue.
While reading, simply push the Light icon and press and hold the screen to increase or decrease the light's brightness.


<b>Light and compact</b>
Smaller and more lightweight than ever, the Illumina easily fits a jacket’s inside pocket. The reduced weight (32 grams less) make it easy to carry too.
Use an original ICARUS PerfectFit cover for protection, a stylish look and a very small footprint. Even inside a PerfectFit cover, the Illumina is small enough to carry inside a jacket.

<b>Easy to use</b>
The Illumina can be operated using the capacitive touchscreen. Simply touch the screen left or swipe from left to right to go to the previous page. To advance to the next page, tap the right of the screen or swipe from right to left. To access the options menu simply touch the bottom of the screen.
Font size can easily adjusted by using 'Pinch and zoom'.
If you prefer to turn pages using the page-turning buttons, you can also do that.
The Illumina has many options for formatting the page. The font type can be changed, font size, page margin and line spacing can be adjusted too. And naturally books can be displayed in portrait or landscape mode. Advanced formatting options including text reflow are available for PDF files too.
