T1/E1/J1 UTP to Fiber Converter
The T1/E1/J1 converters are physical layer Media Converters that convert copper-based circuits to fiber optics. The T1/E1/J1 fiber converters are ideal for extending your 1.544 Mbps T1/J1 and 2.048 Mbps E1 copper-based PBX, router and switch circuits over regular duplex fiber or single-strand fiber optics.
Supporting fiber distances up to 100 kilometers, the T1/E1/J1 series includes built-in jitter removal, line integrity testing, diagnostic tools (Loopback mode and Transmit Data Source), and remote management features. In addition, T1/E1/J1 converters support AMI/B8ZS/HDB3 Line Encoding.
This converter series features protocol-selectable operation; easily choose between T1/J1 and E1 rates via dip switches located on the board. The advantage of remote management is being able to monitor, configure and troubleshoot units located at the customer site without having to have access to the remote network. Furthermore, because the remote management technology is not in-band, the T1/E1/J1 converters transmit data at full bit rate while remaining transparent to data channels.
To aid in network testing and troubleshooting, the T1/E1/J1 series features three different loopback test modes, and the Transmit Data Source diagnostic tool which sends specific patterns of data— transmit all unframed ones (TUA1); transmit a pattern of alternating ones and zeros (TAOZ), and transmit a Pseudorandom Bit Sequence (PRBS)— to determine problems with the cable. All test modes are configurable remotely via iView² SNMP software or locally by manually setting the units.
iMcV-T1/E1/J1 modules are easy to install, configure and manage with iView² SNMP application software, or with any other SNMP application such as HP OpenView™. iView² runs: standalone on Windows NT/XP/2000; as a standalone Java Application for other operating systems; as a snap-in module for HP OpenView; as a Web Server running under IIS or as a Java Web Servlet.
Hot-swappable iMcV-T1/E1/J1 modules significantly reduce operation costs by allowing other modules within the same conversion chassis to remain up and running during network upgrades and maintenance. iMcV-T1/E1/J1 modules install in the following platforms: iMediaCenter, iMediaChassis and MediaChassis.
