The DVD-593 features a solid 4mm brushed aluminium front panel that not only gives the product a beautiful look and feel, but also ensures a very stable construction further enhancing image and sound quality. A minimum of control buttons on the front underlines a distinctly Scandinavian design that easily integrates into your home environment. Did we mention that the DVD-593 is only 55mm high! What does it play?
The high quality DVD drive accepts virtually any 12cm optical discs from normal CD’s to CD-R/-RW as well as the latest DVD-R/-RW and DVD+R/+RWs. Also, the DVD-593 handles DivX, MPEG4, VCD- and S-VCD-encoded video files in addition to WMA and MP3-encoded discs. There is also a built-in jpeg viewer for your photo CDs and DVDs. DivX is to movies what MP3 is to music and thanks to very efficient compression algorithms a full movie can be stored on just one CD-ROM.
Connections
DVD-593 has 4 audio outputs! If you have a surround receiver with the latest decoders built-in (like our AVR-693 and AVR-793) you can use either the optical digital output or the coaxial digital output. If you simply want to use it as a 2-channel device you can use the stereo output. Finally we have a 6-channel output since we have built-in decoders for both Dolby Digital and DTS, useful if you have an active speaker system or a receiver with an old decoder.
Equally we have 4 outputs for the video signals. Composite is the lowest quality – if possible we recommend you at least use either S-Video or the European SCART output. You will get the finest quality with the Component output where we offer Progressive Scan on both PAL and NTSC. Its especially useful on Plasma screens, LCD screens and projectors where you will notice the difference immediately.
