We highly recommend keeping your Ultra 2 or Ultra 160 peripherals separate from your
Non-Ultra 2 or Non-Ultra 160 peripherals. Connecting a Non-Ultra 2 or Non-Ultra 160 peripheral to the Ultra 2 connector forces the Ultra 2 SCSI segment and any attached peripheral to drop down to Ultra SCSI performance levels (40 Mbps). Ultra 2 SCSI or Ultra 160 devices are shipped with termination disabled and cannot be changed, unlike Ultra-Wide devices that can be changed with jumper settings. The only way to terminate a Ultra 2 SCSI device or chain is through a cable.
