TH-42PX600 42” High Definition Plasma Television, 9th Generation HD Panel, 1080p Digital Processing, Photo Viewer (SD)
EDTV Display Capability (480p)1
Certain Panasonic TVs enable you to view enhanced-definition TV programming in the 480p signal format. In order to do so, the TV must be connected via its digital component video inputs (Y, PB, PR) to a DTV set-top box and switched to DTV mode. A DTV signal must be present in your area and the set-top box must be tuned to the proper channel. An external over-the-air antenna may be required. These televisions will also display 480p signals from a progressive scan DVD player at full resolution.
HDTV Display Capability (1080p – HDMI Only)
Certain Panasonic TVs enable you to view 1080p High-Definition video content. In order to do so, the TV must be connected via its HDMI input to a 1080p source (such as a Blue-Ray DVD Player, video game system or multi-media PC) and the source must be setup to output a 1080p video signal.
Simulated Surround Sound
Now you can enjoy surround sound without an elaborate home theatre system thanks to the Simulated Surround Sound feature. It provides a cinema-like experience on systems with only two speakers, when playing any Dolby Digital-encrypted DVD or Video CD with two or more channels.
Auto Programmable Scan
This function automatically programs all available channels in your area (or on your cable system) into memory and then lets you add or delete the channels of your choice.
Closed Caption Decoder
The closed caption decoder allows you to read on-screen subtitles and other information that accompanies selected television programming. Closed captioning allows the hearing impaired to more fully enjoy television viewing and can also be helpful in improving English language skills.
Direct Access Video Input
This feature allows quick access to any video source connected to the television, without scrolling through all the inputs. Simply press the TV/Video button on the remote and make the appropriate selection on screen.
Video Input Labeling
You can assign an on-screen label to each of the video inputs connected to the TV for easier identification of connected video sources. Video inputs can be labeled VCR, DVD, etc., instead of VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, etc. Up to 8 characters can be used for each label. Select models feature preset labels.
Video Picture Memory
This feature allows you to set the television’s picture parameters to either Standard, Cinema or Vivid presets according to the selected viewing material. For instance, you may choose the Cinema preset parameters for DVD movie viewing. Once a preset parameter is chosen, it will remain in effect regardless of the video input selected, until another is chosen.
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
HDMI is an uncompressed digital video and audio interface that is the new standard digital connection between home theatre devices, such as a set-top box, DVD player or A/V receiver, and a digital television. HDMI offers exceptional video quality while supporting multi-channel digital audio and extended cable lengths of up to 15 metres.
