The Seagate Momentus 5400 FDE.3 drive delivers up to 320 GB of secure digital storage. The drive’s Seagate Secure technology protects data against loss or theft on the road, in the office and in the data center, and ensures the secure disposal and repurposing of drives. The 160-GB Seagate Momentus 5400 FDE.3 drive delivers secure digital storage. Seagate Secure solutions are designed to prevent data breaches due to loss or theft on the road, in the office and in the data center. All Seagate Secure solutions are government-grade self-encrypting hard drives that provide full disk encryption from bit to bit. Additionally, Seagate Secure technology enables advanced security firmware that delivers comprehensive centralized security management, enabling government, health care, education, banking and financial institutions to meet consumer laws as well as state and federal legislation regarding identity theft protection. No other hardware-based solution delivers government-grade encryption integrated with centralized enterprise management capability. Seagate Momentus 5400 FDE.3 drives can be deployed in two ways—standalone system-managed security via BIOS setup, or integrated as a corporate security solution centrally managed by the IT department. This is a BIOS secure model for standalone system deployment.
BIOS Secure
This solution is for industrial applications, such as ATM, POS and printer systems, as well as personal laptops outside the office environment that are not subject to corporate regulations and compliance. For individual users who wish to protect themselves against identity theft if their laptop is ever stolen, lost or sold, the encryption on these drives is government-grade but does not require enterprise management. Need quick, strong encryption on your system without software management? No problem—Install your FDE drive like any other drive and set your BIOS password. The hardware-based encryption engine delivers security without the overhead—no processor utilization, no time delays and your system BIOS delivers the authentication.
