This large aperture telephoto zoom is designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras. It is suitable for taking portraits. This lens offers a large aperture of F2.8 and has the minimum focusing distance of 100cm/39.4in and maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.3. It has improved optical performance and retains close-up ability. The lens design incorporates an inner focusing and inner zooming system, providing convenient handling. The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) system allows quiet and high-speed auto focusing with full time manual focus override by rotating the focusing ring. It is possible to attach the optional APO Tele Converters.

Four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements are used for correction of all type of aberrations. The high-resolution power layout has improved the strength of the lens in close-up photography.

APO Tele-Converter (Optional)
The addition of the optical 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele Converters produce a 70-210mm F4 AF telephoto lens a 100-300mm F5.6 AF telephoto zoom lens respectively. Specially designed to provide optimum performance with the master lenses.
Convenient handling
The lens design incorporates an inner focusing and inner zooming system. As the overall length of the lens does not change during focusing and zooming, convenient handling is ensured. It eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using circular polarizing filters.
