EliteConnect SMC Wireless LANPlanner enables companies to establish a repeatable and scalable process for designing and managing SMC wireless networks. The composition and contents of a building, such as the wall construction and electronic interferers, have significant impact on wireless signals. Adding to the challenge is the invisibility of radio waves. Using a predictive approach pioneered by Wireless Valley, SMC’s Wireless LANPlanner enables customers to efficiently and accurately design IEEE 802.11a/b/g networks using a library of SMC Networks access points, antennas, amplifiers, and cables. The software visualizes how the wireless signals will propagate and enables fine tuning of the network design with “what if” analysis to determine optimum performance. The design engineer can review vital information such as RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), SIR (Signal to Interference Ratio), and Predicted Peak Data Rate.
