SMC’s EZ Card 1000 is a Gigabit Ethernet network interface card for 32-
and 64-bit PCI local bus computers. Operating under the 1000BASESX
short-wavelength laser specification, this card provides up to ten
times the bandwidth of Fast Ethernet over multimode fibre links. With
industry-leading throughput and an abundance of advanced features,

and workstations.
The EZ Card 1000‘s leading-edge ASIC technology and performance
enhancing techniques maximise throughput and minimise CPU utilisation. The card provides independent receive and transmit buffers with packet bursting across the PCI bus to dramatically increase throughput. Intelligent interrupt management and IP, TCP and UDP checksum off-loading minimises host CPU time. Operating in full-duplex mode on a 64-bit PCI machine, this card delivers an extremely high level of throughput to the host computer. The EZ Card 1000‘s comprehensive set of features also includes advanced features such as VLAN tagging, Quality of Service (QoS) priority queuing, full duplex flow control and Jumbo Frame support. What’s more, in a Windows NT environment the card’s features are completely configurable through a convenient configuration and diagnostics utility.
