Presto Gigabit USB 3.0m, USB 3.0, RJ-45, Gigabit Ethernet
Wired Networking Restoration Device
With the introduction of new, thinner, lighter computers, manufacturers continue to remove ports that were once standard. Due to its size, the RJ-45 connector for Ethernet, the standard wired networking interface, was among the first to go—try to find one on a MacBook Air®, MacBook Pro®, or most Ultrabook™ computers. Sonnet's Presto Gigabit USB 3.0 adapter instantly bridges the gap left by the missing onboard port, plugging in between your computer's USB 3.0 or 2.0 port and the RJ45 network connection, and enabling file access and sharing at up to 1 Gb/s.
This Sonnet adapter supports 1000/100/10BaseT auto-negotiation and full/half duplex communication, enabling it to easily connect with most networks. It also supports jumbo packet transfers (compared to 1500 byte standard packets) to provide higher performance and reduced overhead when transferring large files. Setup is simple—download and install a driver, connect the adapter to your network connection, and then configure the adapter settings through the OS X® Network control panel or Windows® Device Manager.
Bus Powered and Energy Efficient
Energy Efficient Ethernet LogoPresto Gigabit USB 3.0 is USB port powered, so there's no AC adapter to deal with. It is also very energy efficient in use, using less power when no data is being transmitted. This adapter includes a short USB 3.0 cable to keep the adapter close to your computer and allow you to see its power, link, and activity LED indicators. No USB 3.0 ports at your disposal? Presto Gigabit USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 connections, too.
