Ease of use.
By turning on the power, the projector initiates a series of operation settings. The previous setting of each function is held in memory and recalled automatically, no skill or knowledge is required. Presentations can be made quickly, even by a first-time user.

Variety of acceptable signals.
The VPL-ES1 can accept signals of up to XGA by covering a wide range of signals, from fH 19 to 72kHz, fV 48 to 92Hz. In order to project accurate and prompt images of various signals, the VPL-ES1 has 32 preset data for input signals registered in the memory. Furthermore, the VPL-ES1 is compatible with HDTV (1080i), DTV (520P and 720P) as well as progressive component signals.
Short throwing distance.
The VPL-ES1 adopts a zoom lens with a short focal length of 2.3 m at an 80-inch screen. This way the projector can show large size images while being close to the screen.
Monitor output.
A monitor output is added to the VPL-ES1, enabling the presenter to be sure of the projected images without turning to see the screen.
Selectable lamp power.
With the VPL-ES1, the lamp wattage is selectable between 185W and 157W in the OSD menu. The higher wattage provides maximum brightness while the lower wattage makes fan noise less audible. Depending on the application needs, the appropriate mode can be selected.
Emergency mode.
In order to take away the users fear of the motorized mechanism or for some trouble on the auto setup function, the Emergency mode is provided on the VPL-ES1. This enablles the lens protector and tilt angle to be manually set up.
Adjustable rear leg.
Different from the VPL-CS5/CX5, the rear leg on the VPL-ES1 projector can be adjusted for precise picture height adjustment, providing precise correction of the tilting picture about +/- 10 degree.
13-language OSD menu.
In addition to the 9 languages of OSD in the VPL-CS5/CX5, 4 more languages, Dutch, Russian, Swedish, and Norwegian, are newly included in the OSD menu of the VPL-ES1.
Optional security password function.
The VPL-ES1 is equipped with a security password function, which is the same as in the VPL-PX40/35. Once a password is set in the OSD menu, the projector will not display any input signal without entering the designated password.
Optional anti-theft ceiling mount kit PSS-AT2.
In addition to the Kensington compatible lock mechanism, the VPL-ES1 has the optional anti-theft ceiling mount kit PSS-AT2. Once the projector is mounted to the ceiling, the projector is locked to the mounting plate, which will discourage the thieves and prevent vandalism.
