- The advent of the Intel 945 and 955 chipsets marks the official entry into the DDR2-677 era of desktop PCs. Of course, Team also pioneers to announce the Elite DDR2-677 module with surprising technical performance to correspond to such platforms with exceptional market planning. The Elite DDR2-677 uses a 64x8 or 128 x8 die layout to deliver the 512MB and 1GB models. In the future, Team will continue to add new models of greater capacity to the series.
- Thanks to the low-voltage technology, the DDR2 at 1.8V can effectively save about 50% energy when compared with the DDR module consuming 2.5V working at the same frequency. On the other hand, following the advancement in die process technology, the structure of die also improves. While Team RD personnel discovered that the DDR2-677 modules on the market are ready to work at lower timing, i.e. at CL=4, Team thus adds a new breed to the Xtreem series to attract the attention of overclockers.
- In addition to the conventional 5-5-5-15 timing settings, the Elite DDR2-677 provides another version at 4-4-4-12 to make the DDR2-677 module more outstanding. The Elite DDR2-677 completely conforms to the JEDEC (Joint Electronic Device Engineering Council) standards. When working at 667MHz, the data transfer bandwidth can reach 5.3Gbps, which is 25% wider than the DDR2-533 modules. This obviously boosts the performance of the entire system.
