Already at first sight the Mugen 5 is easily identifiable as a new member of the popular and award-winning cooler-series from Scythe. Numerous improvements are easily discovered at a closer look. The reworked shape of the heatsink provides unrivaled memory compatibility thanks to its asymmetrical design. A fan from the new Kaze Flex series, equipped with a Sealed Precision Fluid Dynamic Bearing and rubberized decouplers ensure an increased smoothness during operation and an extended lifespan. The improved H.P.M.S II mounting system has been equipped with spring-loaded screws that counteracts uneven pressure distribution and provides compatibility with all current motherboard sockets. In addition to the polished and high-quality copper base-plate, the heatpipes are now completely nickel-plated, too. The overall result is an excellent tower cooler, which makes no compromises in terms of optics nor performance.
Asymmetric design for maximum memory compatibility
RAM modules with large passive heatsinks are no problem for the Mugen 5. Its heatpipes are slightly sloped backwards so that the radiator is not centered above the baseplate, but slightly offset. This asymmetrical design allows unrestricted access to the memory slots.
Kaze Flex 120 PWM Fan
The Mugen 5 is equipped with a PWM fan from the newly developed Kaze Flex series. It operates in a range from 300 to 1.200 RPM. The self-contained liquid bearing (Sealed Precision FDB) reduces friction and wear to a minimum, which results in an average lifespan of 120.000 hours. Rubberized pads have a decoupling effect and prevent the transfer of vibrations.
H.P.M.S. II (Hyper Precision Mounting System II)
The second generation of the Hyper Precision Mounting System was designed with several small improvements benefiting the user friendliness. The already pre-assembled mounting bar makes installation much simpler, while spring-loaded screws prevent uneven pressure distribution. The Mugen 5 package also includes an extra-long screwdriver for easy mounting.
Dual Fan Mount Structure
Like its predecessors, the Mugen 5 was designed to mount a second fan (not included). This leads to an increased cooling performance by making use of the push / pull principle. A second set of fan-clips is included.
