The 3Com® Single-Port IEEE 802.3at Gigabit PoE Midspan Solution provides power over standard Category 5 or 5e Ethernet cabling to IEEE 802.3at-compliant devices that require Gigabit connections; for example, 3Com IntelliJack® Gigabit Switches (NJ1000 and NJ2000) and certain IP security cameras.

This inline power source installs right in the switch closet, eliminating an exposed power supply and extra wiring at the workspace, and saving time and money because it's less vulnerable to damage or tampering than a local power supply.
