iMcV-WDM/2-SM1310/1550-SC
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM)
The WDM products are passive, two-channel protocol and speed independent Wave Division Multiplexers which allow two individual wavelengths to share one fiber. Full-Duplex data travels on 1310nm and 1550nm, virtually doubling the capacity of the installed fiber.
The WDM products are deployed in pairs. The host site multiplexes 1310nm and 1550nm onto fiber and the remote site then separates the signals back to the original wavelengths.
Suited for installations where fiber is limited in terms of availability and/or distance, service providers and network managers can easily double their fiber capacity without incurring the costs associated with installing new fiber. For example, campus area network managers can deploy the WDM solution to combine voice and data traffic over the same duplex fiber between company facilities.
The WDM Series is available as a table-top unit or as a double-wide "iMcV" module. The iMcV-WDM modules install into iMediaChassis and MediaChassis platforms.
