The SmartPath Outdoor Access Point enables you to extend your SmartPath wireless mesh network outdoors. This access point is NEMA 4X rated, fully hardened with an extended temperature range and a watertight chassis. Because it’s impervious to virtually any weather condition, you can install it outdoors without special protection or shelter.
The Outdoor Access Point is part of the Black Box SmartPath Enterprise Wireless system, which combines the stability, security, and speed of a wired network with the versatility and adaptability of a wireless network. SmartPath intelligent access points sort packets like a high-end switch and route them to where they’re needed—to the wired network or to another access point. Unlike ordinary wireless systems, in which APs function as accessories to the wired network, SmartPath is designed as an equal partner to the wired network, making it a practical way to provide wireless across your organization.
SmartPath is fast, too. Its 802.11n MIMO performance rivals that of wired networks, enabling SmartPath to support high-bandwidth, time-sensitive applications such as streaming video and VoIP.
The SmartPath enterprise wireless system features smart, controller-less architecture. Cloud-based management eliminates the need to invest in expensive controllers. Because no controllers are required, you can expand from a few access points to thousands of access points easily. Start small, adding access points into an existing wired network as your budget allows, or build a complete enterprise-grade WLAN all at once.
A SmartPath network is self configuring and self healing. Intelligent access points automatically join the network and adjust for traffic, interference, and power conditions. If an access point drops out of the network, other access points compensate. SmartPath intelligent access points continue to operate normally even if separated from management services, so there is no single point of failure.
