The ClassicBoard family provides dependable, cost-effective serial expansion with an easy-to-install multiport serial card. It offers PCI bus support, is available in four- and eight-port RS-232 versions, and delivers throughput of up to 460.8 Kbps. Every signal is safeguarded by built-in surge protection, ensuring that electrical interference, power surges or brown-outs do not interfere with the system operation. ClassicBoard is best suited to applications where the CPU is able to devote some resources to computations or to real-time applications that require short latency time intervals. It can also be used in applications using sensors, switches, measurement devices, factory automation, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), industrial control processing and data collection. It is ideal for connecting cash registers, print receipt devices, scanners and other peripheral devices in retail Point-ofSale (POS) systems.
