Drag and drop an Excel spreadsheet to instantly import your data into FileMaker Pro or open a spreadsheet in FileMaker Pro from the Quick Start Screen. Even save your data back to an Excel spreadsheet and email it to others in a couple of clicks.

Plus, you can also import other familiar data types such as .CSV, Tab, or XML into your database.

- Grids ensure everything is well-organized and optimally placed on your layout by displaying a series of nonprinting intersecting horizontal and vertical lines on a layout, which you can use for creating, resizing, positioning, and aligning objects.

<b>Sharing with FileMaker Server 13</b>
FileMaker Server software supports secure database sharing with large groups of people. If you choose to share databases with more than five people at the same time or you need reliable, high-performance access to your data, FileMaker Server 13 does not limit the number of simultaneous FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Go users.

<b>Share your data in a web browser</b>
Run custom business solutions directly in a web browser on a desktop or laptop with FileMaker WebDirect. Go from creating a solution to making it accessible in a web browser with just a few clicks – no web development skills required.

Available FileMaker Server 13, FileMaker WebDirect is great for working with teams located in remote offices to easily share information. Use it to securely collect information—like status updates, surveys, feedback forms, and more—from geographically dispersed colleagues and associates.

<b>Integrating with FileMaker data</b>

Connect to popular data sources. Set up a Recurring Import and automatically import your Excel data every time you open your database. Or save your information in PDF and Excel formats. Even create secure two-way connections to Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL data sources – no SQL programming skills needed.

<b>Connect to your Excel data</b>
Establish a Recurring Import from Excel data that you use regularly. Set it up once, and every time you open your database, the data from your Excel spreadsheet will update automatically in FileMaker Pro.

Imported data is read-only. Use this data to easily create sales reports, track workflow, and collaborate with others.

<b>Combine the web with your database solution</b>
Bring the browsing functionality of the web together with the power of your database. The Web Viewer lets you to point to any web page and display it’s contents in a FileMaker solution. You can even customize the web page based on data in your database. Pass a customer address to a mapping website, or send a shipping number to a delivery company. Do this by creating a custom URL based on data in your database and use a script to receive data from the web page.

You can also embed a complete web application in your FileMaker solution. For example, display invoices from your web-based accounting system within your inventory database.

<b>Use HTTP Post for external data processing</b>
Use the new custom URL protocol type HTTPPOST in FileMaker Pro 13 with the “Insert from URL” or “Import Records: XML Data Source” commands. No plug-ins are required to transfer data to a web server or submit data to complete a web form. HTTP Post does not limit the amount of data that you can send in the request.

<b>Connect to external SQL data sources (ESS)</b>
FileMaker Pro creates secure two-way connections to External SQL Data Sources (ESS) such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL. You don't have to know how to write SQL queries or have any SQL programming skills to use ESS. Simply add a SQL table or view to the FileMaker Relationships Graph and get a live connection to the external SQL data source. Treat SQL data just like you would FileMaker data. Create custom reports, add calculations and other fields, or create relationships with existing FileMaker data.

<b>Use open ODBC/JDBC standards to exchange data</b>

Use ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) and JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) to read from and write to FileMaker databases hosted by FileMaker Server with many external programs and development tools. FileMaker Pro supports up to 5 local connections. FileMaker Server supports up to 50 simultaneous ODBC/JDBC local and remote connections.
