FS TAPE DRIVE LTO ULTRIUM 100GB 7.5MB/S INT.
The LTO (Linear Tape Open) Ultrium entry-level tape drive is the first half-height tape drive to offer a capacity of 100/200 GB, a transfer rate of 7.5/15 MB/s and an LVD Ultra2 SCSI interface. It has been designed above all for small to medium-sized companies and branches that use distributed net-works and
primarily carry out LAN backups. In their search for scalability, reliability and capacity, some of these companies have doubtlessly considered purchasing autoloaders and small libraries. Yet the LTO Ultrium entry-level tape drive offers them all these advantages at a lower price per gigabyte.
The open Ultrium format has been developed by leading vendors – one of the reasons why Ultrium will also be a leading technology in future. With around 30 license holders and the support of leading IT vendors, there is already
strong, yet healthy competition, something from which customers will profit in the final analysis. The LTO Compliance Verification Entity ensures complete interoperability between the vendors and different generations of Ultrium
drives and media – so you can be sure that systems used throughout your company are totally compatible.
Just like the new Ultrium tape drive technology itself, the Ultrium 100/200 GB cartridges permit backups with hitherto unknown capacity, reliability and manageability. The intelligent memory chip LTO CM (LTO Cartridge Memory) not only improves the reliability of backups as a whole, but also offers new, user-friendly functions allowing far quicker media management and archiving. 1,000,000 passes, an archiving life of 30 years and 20,000 loading/unloading operations are guaranteed for Ultrium media.
