After six years of success, we took our GT050Q, the de facto industry standard for creative professionals, and redesigned it to be faster, smaller, more featured, and more environmentally friendly. The rugged, all-metal GPT50 features next-generation bridging technology, and now boasts incredible USB 3.0 speeds up to 184 MB/s. As the newest member of the Glyph family, think of it as the big brother to the PortaGig50, with an internal power supply and quiet fan. It's 33% smaller than our GT050Q making it more portable and convenient. And we've moved to smaller, environmentally-friendly packaging which means less waste.
The new GPT50 has been designed from the ground up in order to provide the fastest performance, best reliability, and a simple, elegant experience throughout your creative process. With USB 3.0, FireWire, and eSATA, you can connect via your interface of choice, and by selecting high quality components and customizing firmware, the GPT50 is able to achieve faster transfer rates without sacrificing stability.
The GPT50 uses a temperature-controlled fan making it overall quieter than our previous designs while still offering proper cooling. The case is designed with front-panel ventilation holes to draw cool air in, while exhausting warm air out the back - critical to the performance and reliability of the components.
External power adapters are easily misplaced, accidentally unplugged, and take up valuable outlet space. The GPT50 uses an industry-standard power cord and a pro-quality internal power supply for the most efficient, reliable power source possible. GPT50 will also sense when you connect over USB or FireWire, and automatically power on.
The new GPT50 includes upgraded disk monitoring features designed to keep your data safe. Should your drive begin to exhibit behavior indicating an imminent drive failure, the multifunction LED will alert you via a red light. Additionally, to safeguard against accidentally powering off your GPT50, the intelligent power switch must be held for 3 seconds to power off the drive.
Transform your GPT50 into a 1U rack-mount hard drive with the optional GPT Rack Kit. The rack kit holds one or two drives in a 1U rack space. (Sold separately). Note: GPT Rack Kit is designed for GPT Series drives, such as GPT50. For GT Series drives, such as GT050Q and GT062E, use the GT Series rack kits.
