CinemaStar P7K500 - 500 GB, 7200 RPM The 3.5-inch CinemaStar P7K500 is ideal for mainstream digital video recorders with multi-streaming functionality and full-featured set-top boxes. It makes it possible for DVR manufacturers to broaden their product offerings to cover the entire spectrum of customer needs: from very high capacity, high performance multi-function systems to more economical units. This flexibility means developers can select the CinemaStar drive that meets the cost and performance/capacity requirements of their entire product portfolio. Replacing the CinemaStar 7K500, it comprises second-generation perpendicular magnetic recording. High-efficiency voltage regulators help minimize power consumption in line with Hitachi's bid to reduce power consumption in all its devices. Another incorporated breakthrough technology is AV-Zoning. This allows data recovery procedures to be defined differently for multiple partitions on the same drive. In this way, critical system data can be differentiated from time-critical video content, which may not require the same stringent data recovery measures. As a result, AV-Zoning helps ensure smooth video experience.
The P7K500 offers 7200 RPM and is available in 500GB, 320GB, 250GB and 160GB capacity. It is available as both SATA and PATA interfaces.
