Most chalk reels have solid spools (component that holds the line), which causes the chalk reel to jam when chalk gets lodged between the spool and the back of the housing. IR WIN® chalk reels have a “chalk chopper”, grinding the chalk as you wind the line into the reel lessening clumping and minimizing down-time. This new spool is standard on all IRWIN® chalk reels.
