Power rating is often the first amplifier specification you look at. However, it tells little about the amplifier’s ability to drive speakers. A much more important factor is the amplifier’s ability to deliver current, a factor becoming even more crucial in multi channel AV receivers! That’s why the AVR-693 features a massive toroidal transformer and high grade capacitors: 4 x 10,000 µF for extra stability and large instant power reserves. This ensures enough current to always keep a ‘tight grip’ on the speakers. Even the most demanding peaks are reproduced with life-like accuracy and dynamics. Just one factor which sets an excellent amplifier apart from merely a good one. The AVR-693 delivers 120 watts into 6 channels measured at 6 ohms.

What does it play?
We have all the relevant decoders built in to the AVR-693: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, DTS, DTS-ES and DTS Neo:6. If you should have a source with another decode format you can just hook it up via the multi-channel inputs (also ideal for DVD-Audio and SACD). If you have active speakers you can use the multi-channel pre-amp outputs.
