Extremely fast lens
The newly designed, extremely fast Leica DC Vario-Summilux 4.7 – 17.7 mm f/1.4 – 2.3 ASPH. lens, featured in the D-Lux 6, offers outstanding speed throughout its entire range of focal lengths from 24 to 90 mm (35 mm equivalent). A large initial aperture is especially important for shooting in low light, making this an outstanding camera for available-light photography and creative experimentation with planes of focus and depth of field.
Brilliant image quality
The D-Lux 6 unites an outstandingly fast lens with a newly developed, 10-megapixel, 1.7" CMOS sensor, enabling the creation of images that set new standards in their class. The results are bright, precisely detailed pictures with outstanding contrast and natural colour rendition. Including a new image processor, which enables photography with sensitivities from ISO 80 to ISO 12,800 and high resolution display.
Creative freedom
Intuitive handling as it was meant to be: A click wheel allows the user to select distance, shutter speed and exposure corrections, and a new aperture setting feature on the lens barrel enables even more direct control, as does the new second dial. This enables manual focusing, and the addition of an ND filter allows slower shutter speeds for intentional motion blur, even in intense light. Featuring also a smart snapshot mode, programme AE, an integrated optical image stabilizer and the option of styling your photos after they’ve been taken: retro, hot key, miniature effect, to name a few.
Video in Full-HD quality
Full-HD videos captured by the D-Lux 6 are impressive, providing perfect rendition of even fast-moving subjects in outstanding detail. This is made possible by recording in AVCHD format with 1920 x 1080 pixels at 60 full frames per second. Videos can also be saved in the Internet-friendly MP4 format and can be uploaded directly to social media or mobile devices.
Classic design
The new Leica D-Lux 6 combines classic elegance with premium materials. Finished completely in black, only a few chromed elements set discreet counterpoints and refine the clarity of the design. Its silky-smooth, anodised exterior encases a rugged and compact metal body which ensures both robustness and excellent grip.
Professional image processing
The new Leica D-Lux 6 is supplied with the professional still picture and video processing software, Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 4, offering exceptional creative freedom in image manipulation. It optimally ‘develops’ the RAW image files from the CMOS sensor of the D-Lux 6 in the best possible quality. All parameters can be refined in post-processing.
Accessories
The new electronic high-resolution viewfinder (1.4 megapixel), the detachable flash unit perfectly matched to D-Lux cameras, the handgrip and other useful accessories transform the Leica D-Lux 6 into a camera with system character – for enhanced performance, greater creative latitude and even more of the unique pleasure of photography.
