10.16 cm (4.00 ") ID E-Series Safety Film Solar Filter
This affordable E-Series solar filter fits our fan-favorite Orion ShortTube 80mm Refractor Telescope optical tube assembly (OTA) and FunScope TableTop Reflector, so you can enjoy safe views of the Sun without breaking the bank. The filter's black-polymer film material lets you observe sunspots, eclipses, and more in delightful detail.
The Orion 4.00" ID E-Series Safety Film Solar Filter is more durable than other, thinner film solar filters thanks to its stronger black-polymer film filter material. What's more, this low-cost filter will display the Sun in a pleasing yellow-orange color unlike the white or especially unnatural blue shade cast by some other film filters. The yellow-orange image of the Sun will reveal clear, high-contrast views of our nearest star in your telescope.
This refreshingly affordable E-Series Safety Film Solar Filter has an inside diameter (ID) of 101mm (4.00"), making it a perfect fit for our popular Orion ShortTube 80 EQ, ShortTube 80-A, ShortTube 80-T, and ShortTube 80 OTA refractor telescopes. You can also use this filter to create an ideal set-up for beginning astronomers who are interested in viewing the Sun safely by attaching it to the compatible FunScope TableTop reflector.
A strip of adhesive-backed felt is included to help ensure a secure friction-fit of the filter.
CAUTION: Never look at the Sun, even for an instant, without a protective solar filter. Doing so can permanently damage your eyes.
