Ceiling Speakers Trimless, Thin Bezel, Pair OSD Audio ACE520
This in trimless thin bezel ceiling speakers offers top shelf sound at a happy hour price! The ACE520 maintains an entry-level price point, but this trimless 5¼" in-ceiling speaker includes features that you'd find on speakers twice the cost. Here's an example. The woofer is mica-filled polypropylene cone with butyl rubber surround for extra durability. The tweeter is a 3/4" pivoting silk soft dome for very precise high frequencies. Power handling is decent at 100W so the ACE520 can be used as a home theater or media room speaker as well as for background music. A customer favorite feature is the contour switches that allow you to tailor the bass and trebel to your preference. Of course like all our ACE speakers, the micro-flange grilles have a thin (0.15") trim, giving the ACE speakers a clean and sleek appearance that seamlessly integrates into any design space.
Mounting these speakers to the ceiling is made simple by the L-shaped clamps (called dog leg clamps) that are part of the speaker frame. Before you install the speakers, remove the grille and you’ll see several the mounting screws near the front frame. These screws need to be loosened to activate the dog leg clamps. Use a screwdriver to loosen (turn to the left) these screws and the clamp will come loose. When the speaker is in position in the ceiling, tighten (turn to the right) the screw and the speaker will be secured to the ceiling.
Trimless Speakers: Heard but Not Seen!
The Architectural Ceiling Element (ACE) Trimless Series of ceiling and In-Wall Speakers are ideal for new construction or retrofit. These elegant, flush mounted speakers blend effortlessly into any room interior and offer outstanding audio performance. The secret behind these stealthy speakers are the micro flange grilles attached by extremely powerful magnets that stay put for quick and easy installation. Adds less visual impact on your architectural audio installation.
Do I Need special cable for in-ceiling speakers?
You do and here's why. Regular cable that you buy at the local store (sometimes referred to a lamp cord) is not designed to be run insde of walls or underground. While wiring requirements will depend on your local building codes, OSD Audio offers CL3/FT4 cable that is UL (fire) rated for all residential and most commercial in-wall and in-ceiling applications. This cable includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation. The high quality plastic jacket is also very flexible so it's easy to run the wires inside the wall.
What Gauge Wire Should I Use for my In-ceiling Speakers?
For runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, use 14-gauge wire.
For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.
