Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) broadband WAN technology is ideal for residential or SOHO environments. Data and voice transmissions can be made simultaneously. The SMC7003-USB is a plug-and-play ADSL modem that provides high-speed Internet access over existing telephone lines. It features an always-on digital connection, delivers concurrent voice and data over a single line, and provides wide equipment interoperability and system compatibility.
The modem´s USB port allows simple, instant configuration-free attachment to a PC´s USB port. Designed to ensure a high-performance Internet connection for the SOHO environment, this new modem connects to the web at speeds equal to those available in your office. Its always-on digital connection saves you time by eliminating dial-up delays. The modem is interoperable with systems from major central office equipment makers, and provides compatibility with various ISP services (static or dynamic).
The modem also supports both full-rate DMT connection (with 8 Mbps downstream and 640 Kbps upstream), and the more economical G.lite connection (with 1.5 Mbps downstream and 512 Kbps upstream). The SMC ADSL/USB modem allows SOHO users to employ a wide range of network applications. Multiprotocol encapsulation of TCP/IP, Novell´s IPX, and Windows NetBEUI provides total access to the Internet and all your corporate resources (i.e. printers, file servers, and multimedia services).
With this ADSL modem, investments are protected through the support of popular DSL connection models, including PPP over Ethernet, PPP over ATM, bridging and routing.
