LTO3 Datacartridge 400/800GB WORM
Using state of the art data compression technology, very fast transfer speeds are possible. Data position and media error information are stored on a 4KB memory chip, enabling high speed access to all files. Sony's media has a on/off switch for security purposes to prevent over writing.
Massive Storage Capacity
By writing data onto 384 tracks consisting of four data bands of 96 tracks each for LTO1 and writing data onto 512 tracks consisting of four data bands of 128 tracks each for LTO2 and 704 data track for LTO3, storage of up to LTO1: 100GB and LTO2: 200GB (Native), LTO1: 200GB and LTO2: 400GB (Compressed) is now possible. In both LTO1 and 2, five pre-written servo bands enable the head block to write and read the data track accurately. This technology contributes to the massive storage capacity of LTO1 and LTO2.
High-Speed access with LTO Cartridge Memory (LTO-CM)
Data position, cartridge history and media error information are stored on a 8KB memory chip. Data in the built-in chip lets the library system search the recorded data at a higher speed than if it searched the tape alone. Also, since this chip is a non-contact type, it can provide a longer service life than a conventional contact-type chip.
Highly reliable and durable tape technology
LTO tape’s thin magnetic layer enables high-density recording and high-output reading of data. This tape technology provides sufficient high frequency performance, while maintaining a low-error rate. For durability, long-lasting Sony’s unique binder system and magnetic powder help assure a robust tape that resists deterioration and supports recording and reading of data over the long term.
