Sony StorStation AIT-E Turbo tape drive

The StorStation AIT-E Turbo tape drive offers the same capacity, but higher performance and better reliability than DAT40 drives. The AIT-E Turbo drives provide higher performance, higher capacity and higher reliability than DAT40 but cost less.
Turbos are the fastest in their class. With a native transfer rate of 21.6GB/h, they can fill a 20GB cassette in less than an hour. That means they’re twice as fast as DAT40 with the same capacity, at a lower price point.
Because they’re part of the proven AIT family, Turbo has all the great qualities you’d expect: things like assured compatibility with major vendor servers, and with higher capacity AIT Turbo generations.
Compared to DAT40, AIT Turbo proven technology gives them more than 7.5 times the reliability: 300,000 hours Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), compared to just 36,000. You won’t find a more reliable drive in its class.
