The new SSE-G48-TG4 from Supermicro is a standalone 48-port Layer 2/Layer 3 1/10-Gigabit Ethernet switch. It offers a full suite of advanced Ethernet switching features - the same as in the new Ethernet switch for the Supermicro SuperBlade server systems. In addition to the 48 ports at 1-gigabit per second, the SSE-G48-TG4 offers up to four 10-gigabit per second "uplink ports". These uplink ports can be used to connect to 10-Gigabit Ethernet backbone networks or servers with 10-Gigabit Ethernet connectivity - or they can be "stacked" together to create an even larger capacity switch. Fiber or copper wiring options are available for the 10-Gigabit connections.
Offered in a 1U form factor, the SSE-G48-TG4 switch is ideal for use as a wiring closet aggregation switch, as a top-of-rack aggregation switch, or even as a core switch for a small business or branch office. A comprehensive set of management tools are available through either a Command Line Interface or through a Browser-based GUI.
