The R-5 gets power from the built in, rechargeable batteries or from the supplied AC power adapter which also charges the batteries when connected to the mains. Just twist the dial of the radio to tune in the desired station, which can be stored in one of the presets. Several hours of playing time is possible from fully charged batteries and an LED light indicates when the battery power is getting low and recharging of the R-5 is needed.
