SATA Solid State Disk (SSD) comes in a standard 2.5-inch size and has an SATA interface which means it can be used in most notebook computers and mainstream PCs just like a regular hard drive. Transcend’s 2.5-inch SATA SSD series has a distinct advantage over standard 2.5” HDDs in that they are made of solid-state memory with no moving parts, and therefore not susceptible to mechanical failure resulting from vibration, shock, heat, etc. Its modern SATA interface delivers higher data transfer rates than standard IDE and ensures compatibility with today’s high performance notebook and desktop computers. Moreover, SATA cables are much thinner and more compact than IDE cables, which allows for less cluttered installations with better cooling from improved airflow. Transcend’s 2.5-inch SATA SSD has the standard compact dimensions as normal 2.5” hard drives, but with a thickness of only 9.5mm, making it very easy to install in PCs and notebooks.
