<b>Soft shell for hard usage</b>
The difference between fun and seriousness is only a few centimetres thick: The uvex back pure protector for men protects during falls or collisions. Thanks to the flexible high-tech foam and the clever design they are comfortably light-weight to wear and always stay at the right position – with maximum protection.
In most cases the crucial moment lasts only a few split seconds: Is the turn enough to stand the trick? Will you reach the edge fast enough to keep from sliding on the ice plate? Or were you simply lucky and were able to avoid the approaching crash pilot? Split seconds that decide between skiing pleasure and possible injuries.
Next to the head, the spine is one of the most sensitive parts of the human body. Whether on the slope, off the slope or in park and pipe: uvex is serious about „protecting people“ and presents completely newly developed back protectors. They can prevent spinal injuries and fractions in the shoulder and rib area.
<b>Soft protects better than hard</b>
The uvex protectors have integrated pads made of dampening high-tech foam that hardens in a matter of seconds upon impact. The flexible honeycomb structure makes the protective effect of the viscoelastic foam possible. Tests and measurements with accident researchers and mountain rescuers have shown that the foam offers more effective protection than a conventional hard shell protector.
This may sound paradox at first, but can be explained easily: hard shell protectors distribute the energy of the impact over a larger area, but only dampen it slightly. The exerted forces remain relatively high. The foam uvex uses absorbs impacts and takes in the force without transferring it to the surrounding areas. The tension curve upon impact becomes wider and flatter – the force on the back is less and shorter than with hard shell protectors: In addition the material is form and temperature resistant, and therefore even absorbs frequent falls without impairing the high protective level. If needed, the flexible foam plate can even be washed.
<b>The fit is decisive for ideal protection</b>
A back protector can only really protect well if it covers all critical areas ideally and does not slide away upon impact. uvex offers protectors in five different back lengths to provide ideal fit for any body size. The special 3D construction makes the back protector especially flexible. The protector is only fixed firmly to the body at the hip and between the shoulder blades. Thanks to its flexibility it follows every movement all while you hardly feel it. Two belts with adjustable lengths between shoulder harness and hip belt allow you to adjust the height of the protector just as you need it and prevent it from sliding upwards. The tailbone is protected by an own flexible plate. It is flexibly connected with the back part and stays over the tailbone in every movement. This way the protector can adapt even better to your body, and is not uncomfortable even when you are sitting. A layer of 3D-mesh between back and protector provides the necessary ventilation.
