Magneto Optical, usually abbreviated "MO", is a method of recording data on an optical disk. Thin film materials used in MO disks are magneto-optical materials. These materials reflect light with a certain polarization depending upon the magnetic state of the material. The magnetic state of the material can be changed at high temperature in the presence of a magnetic field. An MO disk is written thermo-magnetically and read back optically.
With the possibility to use the media in a disk library, you can reach a massive 1400GB of data storage when using 160pcs of 9.1GB disks. The disk is embedded in a case which makes it extremely durable for all data.
