AMPHIBIOUS X5 Secure Encrypted Password Authentication Mobile Ruggedized Drive
Secure Encrypted on Device Password Authentication Mobile Ruggedized Drive Real-Time Hardware Encryption with NIST and FIPS Validated Cryptographic Modules
Amphibious X5 is the simplest and technologically advanced single-factor authentication real-time hardware encrypted ruggedized external drive in the market today; securing your Data-AT-Rest (DAR).
Designed and engineered to satisfy the requirements of demanding security concerned professionals, Amphibious support a fast solid-state (SSD) or a hard disk drive (HHD). Amphibious is designed to be both bootable and bus-powered, and it is compatible with MS Windows and Macintosh environments without any software installations. Image
One of the most secure and cutting-edge hardware-based encryption chipsets is integrated into the internal circuitry of the Amphibious. The cryptographic encryption module contains features such as Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm AES-256 bit key strength, and real-time encryption so that there is virtually zero time in encrypting and decrypting the data. While in the CBC or ECB modes, the encryption chipset bears certifications from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard FIPS Level 2 for a Cryptographic Module. The Amphibious is authenticated by secure password (PIN number), which is typed on the device for authentication, then ready for secure data transfer.
Encryption Features:
- Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm AES-256 bit key strengthReal-time encryption (virtually zero time in encrypting and decrypting the data) - Hardware encryption (not software imbedded in a chip) - The cryptographic engine is NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) of USA and CSE (Communications Security Establishment) of Canada certified hardware AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm. - FIPS (US Federal Information Processing Standard) 140-2 Cryptographic Engine validated (FIPS Inside) - Authentication: Secure key token - No software or GUI involved or required installation (for encryption or authentication)
Special Features:
- Ruggedized pocket-size portable external storage drive - Bootable - Bus powered (no adaptor required) - Carrying case included - Incorporates SATA hard drive (up to 1TB) or solid-state drive (SSD) - USB and FireWire connections - Transfer Speeds up to 800 megabytes per second - Compatible with both Windows and Macintosh environments - Includes all necessary cables
Advantages
- DAR – Data At Rest - Special epoxy on the Circuit board - No Licensing fees - No Maintenance (or extra fees) - No software to install - Hardware encryption (not a software imbedded in a chip) - Real-Time encryption (virtually no delays in encryption and decryption operations) - Operating System (OS) independent (Mac, Windows, Linux …) - Bus-powered and Bootable - Low Cost of Ownership (Low cost [$] per Gigabytes)
A unique feature of the Amphibious X5 Mobile is that it has an embedded keypad allowing you to key in your PIN directly onto the unit. This ensures protection from key-loggers who may be recording your keystrokes on your computer. Together with full-disk encryption; these features give you the absolute level of protection with an unrivaled ease of use.
Enclosure Design
Amphibious Ruggedized Portable Enclosure Design
How Does the Amphibious 2.5″ Enclosure Design Help Protect Your Hard Drive? The safety-centric mechanical design of Amphibious series 2.5″ enclosures provides critical hardware protection features, including:
Secure Shock-Absorbent Mechanism The full-length bridgeboard provides additional protection by supporting the entire length of the hard drive. A strong aluminum rim holds the hard drive chassis firmly in place, eliminating stress on the bridgeboard and preventing damage due to impact or violent movement.
Shock-Absorbent Protection The shock-absorbent dampers strip between the bridgeboard and chassis offers additional resistance against accidental drops and bumps. The disposition of the hard drive and housing profile form an anti-shock chamber to cushion the blow of potential impacts.
Thermal Protection and Load-Bearing Case The precision density of the rugged aluminum aircraft-grade border provides excellent heat dissipation and is strong enough to bear external weight.

Encryption Technology
One of the most secure and cutting-edge hardware-based encryption chipsets is integrated into the internal circuitry of the Amphibious lines. The chipset contains features such as Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm AES-256 bit key strength, and real-time encryption so that there is virtually zero time in encrypting and decrypting the data. While in either CBC or ECB modes, the encryption chipset bears certifications from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and FIPS Level 2 for a Cryptographic Module. The Amphibious is authenticated by a digital key token, which is inserted for authentication, and removed soon after the device is authenticated, and then ready for secure data transfer.
