- It can work as a RAID 0/1/0+1/5 HDD controller card or an un-RAID extension card for SATA device (HDD or SATA optical drive).
- If you don’t active the RAID function, you can attach 4 SATA HDD as a normal extension card.
- Rosewill special design, “Magic Switch”, allows two modes operation.
- Mode one: You can active 4 internal SATA ports and two external e-SATA is off-line.
- Mode two: You can active 2 internal + 2 external SATA ports for connecting your e-SATA enclosures and SATA devices. In this mode, two internal SATA channel will be off-line.
- Attention: Need a floppy driver on PC if you want to install a new OS into a fresh.
- HD attaching to this card (fresh installation).
- You can select booting from HDD connecting to motherboard or RC-209-EX (if you want to install a new system from HDD connecting to RC-209-EX, you need a floppy drive to process the installation).
- Supports up to 2TB HDD.
- RC-209-EX is an upgrade version of RC-209. The only different between RC-209-EX and RC-209 is the external eSATA port. RC-209-EX is an external eSATA version which can allow you hook up more eSATA enclosures. All other parts of RC-209-EX are the same as RC-209.
- HDD Controllers are capable to support all HDD sizes, but different OS may limited the HDD sizes that can be supported. For example, XP 32-bit supports only up to 2TB.
- This Model supports Optical Drive (SATA CD/DVD-ROM including Blu-ray drives.)
- Please avoid using "Green" drives to build the RAID. These types of drives have slower spin up time and tend to enter power saving mode aggressively. The RAID controller would assume the drives as either dropped or damaged because of time out, and the whole RAID set will become degraded or even unusable.
