The ThinkPad X3 UltraBase and ThinkPad X4 UltraBase Dock provide expansion and cable management at your desktop and on the road. Features include support for Ultrabay optical and storage options, a compartment for a second optional battery, speakers and a Kensington lock slot (supports optional cable lock). The ThinkPad X4 UltraBase Dock with integrated key lock enables easy, one-step desktop expansion.
High-performance wireless networking
Select ThinkPad X40 and X31 notebooks feature Integrated IBM 11a/b/g Wi-Fi® wireless technology. This tri-mode technology provides the flexibility to connect in any Wi-Fi environment. IBM 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless and Intel® 11b are available on select models for more flexibility of choice. Wi-Fi wireless upgradeable models are also available, allowing you to experiance the freedom of wireless networking when you're ready using the new optional IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter or optional Intel PRO/WirelessLAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter.
Cisco Compatibility
Select ThinkPad X31 notebooks are compatible with appropriate Cisco Systems® products. The Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX) Program for wireless LAN devices provides tested compatibility with key security features of Cisco infrastructure products. Compatibility is assured through extensive testing by a Cisco-authorised test facility.

ThinkPad X40 and X31 models feature the IBM UltraConnect™ Antenna built into the display cover for optimal signal reception. This combined design supports IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless technologies to help maximise coverage and performance for improved wireless LAN connectivity around the world.
