TC Kit 3 GB PC3-8500 1066 MHz
Following several others, takeMS has introduced its first triple channel DDR3-memory kits for Intel's Core i7 platform. Initially, the company will launch two memory kits with 1066 MHz and 1333 MHz speeds in both 3 GB and 6 GB kits. According to takeMS, these are the first DDR3-modules that live up to the JEDEC-standard with a voltage of 1.5 V. They claim that competing memory manufacturers require 1.65 V or more to reach that standard.
The "Entry-Level" triple channel kits with a speed of 1066 MHz have a latency of 7-7-7-20, the "Extreme Edition" with a frequency of 1333 MHz will have a latency of 8-8-8-24. takeMS claims that the lower voltage requirement makes these modules perfectly suited for overclocking. The performance of the Core i7 integrated memory controller would be taken into account when calculating the actual processor power. When this performance reaches the by Intel specified TDP-value, the processor will underclock itself. Because of the lower voltage, it would become harder to reach this limit. A sidenote however is that this limit can be increased in the BIOS of several motherboards, using the "TDP Power Limit Override" option.
